SEARRP regularly facilitates and provides fieldwork support for university field courses at our Danum Valley base and the Maliau Basin Studies Centre. Packages can be tailored entirely to the individual needs of universities – and can include input from SEARRP’s team of highly trained Research Assistants, specialist lectures and guided tours of Sabah’s forests and plantations and assistance with flight, hotel and other logistic arrangements. Please contact our Operations Manager Adrian Karolus or Assistant Director of Communications Katie King for further information and advice.

In partnership with the Tropical Biology Association (TBA), SEARRP holds annual month-long field courses in tropical ecology at Danum Valley. These courses bring together newly graduated biologists from South East Asia and across the world for a programme of lectures by leading ecologists, field exercises and individual research projects. For further details of these highly-regarded courses, keep an eye on our Latest News section and the Tropical Biology Association (TBA) website.

SEARRP has worked with several leading corporations over the years including HSBC, Shell, Sime Darby, Wilmar, both as partners on a variety of our research programmes and by designing and leading corporate training programmes. Our work with HSBC, for example, has involved providing awareness building programmes on sustainable forestry and plantation management and the challenges posed by a changing climate. Please contact Katie King to discuss how SEARRP is able to engage with your company.

HSBC has partnered with and supported SEARRP for over 15 years. The bank has provided funding for its long-term climate change-focussed research at Danum Valley and we have regularly engaged with SEARRP scientists on our group-wide Sustainability Leadership Programme as well as on more specific environmental awareness building for HSBC staff in Malaysia. This has been an excellent relationship for HSBC.

Sarah LeggEarly Career Scientists
